Staging Time – Clutter to the Rescue!

Staging time, time to open up your doors and throw your listing sign up in the yard….(my apologies to Semisonic)…

Time to call Lynn Rahn at Clutter Savannah!

Anyone who knows the fabulous Lynn, knows she is a true talent (see the before and after of my Thunderbolt house HERE).

The lady got it goin’ on!

We are going to do a bohemian-themed style for the Isle of Hope Cottage — Lynn selected some great pieces that will work together to bring about that boho feeling I want to convey.

You can see all the pieces we are working with from my house HERE!

See you at the Open House!

Love Letter to…Clutter Savannah

Clutter, Clutter, CLUTTER!!!!

How do I love thee, let me count the ways:

1) Because you know my personality so well,

2) Because you know how to dress (my house!),

3) Because you always know how to bring out the best in me, errr, my home(!),

4) Because you make me push my (design) limits,

5) Because you make me try something new,

6) Because you remind me of what I love — rehashing and rearranging my favorite things in a new way!

Lynn, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU(!!!) for helping so much at my new old house in Thunderbolt (and Ardsley!!). I honestly would never have tried the furniture arrangement if it weren’t for you!

Here’s a glimpse of some of Lynn’s BRILLIANT work at my Thunderbolt digs.

If you don’t know Lynn, her daughter Brooke, and Johnny, their crew is insanely talented. Not only does their retail outfit offer personalized design services (including staging, and fluffing what you already have), the store offers beautiful lighting options, furniture, original art, photography, and a plethora of gorgeous consignment pieces that all have their own style and patina (read: no mass-produced junk from China). It really is one of my favorite places to go in town (and now that Maison de Macaroons has moved downtown, I no longer need to stay away!).

This is my first love letter to Clutter. I hope you all won’t gag or roll your eyes when I say that THERE WILL BE MORE!

Always a find at Cherry Picked -- its my source for great deals on barely worn designer duds!

Finds galore at this Broughton Street designer consignment store. Brands start at J.Crew and go to St. John, Prada, and don’t even get me started on the Chanel boots I had to walk away from (they ALMOST fit!).

I walked in to say, “hi” to Casey and her fabulous new pooch, Miss Sadie (a rescue like Tondee), and walked out with some PERFECT Lily Pulitzer wedges, a lemon yellow Nanette Lepore dress, & some crazy short-shorts that instantly put me in a good mood.  All this & I paid less than HALF a dress anywhere else. SCORE!

If you love designers but can’t swallow the prices, Cherry Picked is for you!

Visit Casey & Miss Sophie 6 days a week (closed Mondays) & by appointment at 402 W Broughton Street & “Like” Cherry Picked on Facebook to see all their new goodies! Believe me, its addictive but worth it!

Move Over Cinderella: Flip Flops Are The Glass Slippers Of The South

That's So Savannah/busybeevacations.comYes.  That’s so Savannah.

Look.  Even in winter, we usually have just a few days to sport our new wool coats.  It’s just the way it works.  The new winter coats hit the racks and we buy them.  I don’t make the rules.  I do, however, draw the line at rotating my cute flip-flops and sandals in and out according to season.

You see, we walk in Savannah.  It’s a beautiful city all year round, so we don’t need closed toe shoes with platforms, thick soles or seven-inch heels.  Well, okay.  We have them.  After all, we do attend parties and there are times we’re required to stand for presentations or pose for photos with really tall people, but for the most part we walk.

You probably have already figured out by now that, yes, I am pretty much responsible for the nose prints on the store windows of Globe Shoe places to stay in Savannah/busybeevacations.comCompany over on Broughton.  To make amends, I sometimes even go inside the store.  After all, I did just walk all the way over there  and if I walk out with a cute pair of shoes, oh well.  It’s really all about the journey and looking good, isn’t it?

I say so long as a body, woman or man, takes pride in putting together a smart outfit with cute sandals or flip-flops and includes a proper pedicure in his or her beauty regimen, it’s a fashion do!

I hope the next time you see me you’ve been inspired to go foot-tastic!  And remember, no wise-cracks if it’s in the dead of winter.  I’ll be the cool chick rocking a new wool coat and fun flip-flops.

It’s so Savannah and I can’t wait for you to come see for yourself!

The Wearing of the Green

Ladies, if you are in town for St. Patrick’s Day, you need to don the green (unless you like to get pinched)!

Luckily one of my go-to boutiques, Red Clover, has an ample selection of goodies including this adorable t-shirt that is easy to wear with jeans or a skirt and is super comfy for parade festivities!

Cafe 37 – c’est bon!

In honor of being March 7 (3/7), I decided I’d write about one of my favorite places to eat and visit, Cafe 37 & 37th & Abercorn Antiques & Design!where to eat in savannah, dining in savannah, best food in savannah

The fabulous Cafe 37 has been a favorite of mine for some time – the food is the focus in this straightforward 10-top cafe. Cafe 37 is housed in the carriage house of the property and you dine downstairs while the busy waiters rush upstairs to the kitchen. If its nice out, you might like to sit outside in front of the cafe.

Cafe 37 in Savannah, Georgia serves up simply delicious French food

I have to say that my favorite lunch fare here CURRENTLY has got to be the pork sandwich.  Its served on rustic French bread and has so much succulent pork that I always just give up and take the second half home, that is unless I’ve had a glass of wine prior (tee hee).

Our helpful waiter suggested I add green apple to the sandwich last time and I will be ordering it this way again in the future.

The Roquefort pear salad at Cafe 37 is a favorite among regulars

Other favorites — for a cold day, the French onion soup in veal stock is the epitome of decadent;  the oyster po boy with the fabulous tartar sauce takes me back to my time at Tulane but without all the grease (I was told that the oysters in the oyster po boy are fried with some vodka so they are extra crisp), and the Roquefort pear salad is always a tried and true favorite that always seems to be a special.

After your belly is full, mosey next door to explore the antiques in 37th  & Abercorn Antiques & Design or to  201 1/2 Cottage behind the big house. To read more, click here:
