Meet Poppy.

kate .png“Its going to be like Jonathan Adler and Kate Spade had a love child,” is how I tried to explain my vision for the vacation rental I had been hired to furnish. More like PLEAD.  After spending so much time in my “coastal chic” cottage,  I desperately wanted to prove that I could help create a girly-gurrrl space that was both comfortable and chic.  And to be quite honest, I wanted to be able to refer friends and family to a chic place for their visits to Savannah…and then hope for an invitation to follow!

I think every girl has a little bit of Poppy in her. She is the sparky, spirited bon voivant who can close a deal while walking her dog, a bag of groceries in her arm and a trail of suitors in her wake. In high heels. And bold lipstick.  Think Audrey meets Brigitte Bardot. With Grace Kelly thrown in for her pearls and Marilyn Monroe thrown in for her va-va-voom!ddf7db3949ca075b678429abcac5e074

Knowing my client is both practical and not even one itty bitty bit glam (although he has a weakness for great lighting and loves Moroccan-inspired tile), my strategy in convincing him to go this route was to focus the shopping at Ikea, Overstock, & Target with a few more luxe pieces thrown in like these killer lamps from Kate Spade for West Elm I selected for the Master.

Poppy is my first vacation rental furnishing job and I am excited to see how she comes together. Here is a sneak peak at the vision board – I look forward to sharing her full unveiling with you in the next few weeks!

I found inspiration walking into Jonathan Adler and Kate Spade’s boutiques as well as in Savannah’s own Circa Lighting’s new collaboration with Kate Spade.
