Wes Anderson Films Featured at The Florence

While shopping at NOLAJane the other day in the Starland Design District, I noticed a poster in the window.

Could this really be? A film series dedicated to Wes Anderson films?!?

I’m no Margot (could never smoke and would have most definitely sewn my finger back on) but I put on heavy mascara, parted my hair, and donned my best faux fur and headed down to meet some  neighbors at the bar. Highly suggest.

Getting Festive – Simple Decor for the Season

After getting back from my VERY talented friend, Meredith‘s farm near Athens, Georgia, I decided to get all crafty and creative.

Just felt good using all the pinecones and Leiland cypress we collected to create something fun and interesting for the house. No tree this year but these festive decorations will get me in the spirit all while keeping in line with the outdoors-y feeling of my house.

Savannah Music Scene

Just like Gloria Estefan once sang, “The rhythm is gonna get you…” and our Savannah music scene is going to get you good!

This year’s Savannah Music Festival is in full swing with pianos, trios, quartets, big bands, blue grass and, of course, all that jazz.  Music is in the air, Savannah is on parade and you just can’t beat our low country vibe in the spring.  Don’t hesitate for a second thinking you’ll never find a place to stay because Busy Bee Vacations still has some dates open.  For instance, come on down to The Roost!  Continue Reading »

In celebration of the Uffizi exhibition, the Telfair presents the Mary Telfair Grand Tour featuring rarely exhibited works from Mary Telfair’s collection which she acquired primarily in Italy during her travels abroad.

Mary Telfair Grand Tour

The Telfairs visited European sites of cultural significance and the Uffizi Gallery was one of the “must see” stops on their itinerary. Mary Telfair also brought back art purchased during their travels. This exhibition will include a variety of works acquired in Rome, Florence and the low countries during the Telfair sisters’ 1842 and 1851 European tours. Among the works included are a portrait miniature of Mary Telfair, several works in the manner of Baroque painter Salvatore Rosa, and portraits of Vittoria della Rovere, the young Grand Duchess of Florence Continue Reading »

Tea At Mrs. Davenport’s

Each year I look forward to learning more about history and traditions and one of my favorite Savannah programs is Tea At Mrs. Davenport’s!

Tea at Mrs. Davenport's

March means it’s time to make time to visit Davenport House Museum on Columbia Square.  Learn about tea traditions and experience an early 19th century tea in the historic atmosphere of the Isaiah Davenport House Museum. Patrons will tour areas of the historic home where tea service took place and will participate in an afternoon tea with costumed interpreters.  The performance requires that guests be able to walk up and down stairs and it’s a wonderful opportunity to see this extraordinary house.
