The staff there was so easy to work with and they had the place all decorated and with planned lots of fun activities for Tondee and his friends.  I even made bags of treats for his pet pals, so everyone left with a gift.  Best of all, everyone had a great time and they just had a blast spending time together!

Blessed Are The Animals

Blessed are the animals.  It’s time to honor our furiends!

Blessed Are The Animals

Today is the feast day of St Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals. St Francis was renowned for his relationship with animals, famously brokering a peace between the townspeople of Gubbio, Italy, and a local wolf. Many churches take the opportunity to bless pets around his feast day.

All Saints’ Episcopal Church and the Savannah Children’s Choir  will hold their Annual Animal Blessing Event on Sunday, October 7, 2012 in the churchyard located at 804 Jones Avenue, Tybee Island at 4:00pm. The Rev. Helen White will preside over the event. The event is held in celebration of The Feast of St. Francis, patron saint of animals and ecology.

The Savannah Children’s Choir will perform and refreshments will be served.

All animals are welcome!

In case of rain blessing will be held indoors

Tondee’s Picks: Spring Fling Doggy Bone Hunt

pet friendly Savannah/busybeevacations.comHippity.  Hoppity.  Easter’s on its way!

If the Easter Bunny is not scheduled to visit your pet pal this weekend, Tondee says to be sure and take your canine buddy over to  the Mother Matilda Beasley Dog Park for the Spring Fling Doggy Bone Hunt coming up Saturday, April 21 at 10 AM.  There will be Easter eggs filled with doggie treats and hidden for your dog to find.  This pet-tastic event is sponsored by our Chatham County Park Services and they will even award prizes for the best tricks!

Holidays are always made more special when we can include our furry pals, but remember to keep in mind not all treats are good for your pet!  If you include your pet in your Easter egg hunts this weekend, do remember that consuming raw eggs is not good for anyone…pets or humans.  Make sure your colored eggs are fully cooked.  Chances are you may forget where you’ve hidden them all, but your dog will surely find them.  You don’t have to worry about your pet peeling them first because the shells are just extra calcium.

Tondee and Brutus love visits to the park.

There are other Easter treats that aren’t so good for your pet.  Peeps, jelly beans and other candies contain lots of sugar and too much sugar is not good for your pet (and that does not mean that you should eat them all, either!).  We’ve all heard that dark chocolate can be beneficial to us humans, but it’s a definite no-no for dogs.  Some say milk chocolate is okay in small quantities, but once again, that giant hollow milk chocolate bunny and that tricked out Easter Basket should be carefully stored far back on the counter where puppy paws can’t get at them!  Carob is a much better option for pets and you, too.

Holidays are for families and friends and pets, too!  Make this Easter a special time for everyone in your family.  Just remember…people eat people food and our pets shouldn’t.  Luckily, pets and humans alike can enjoy our wonderful pet friendly cottages and townhouses…on holidays and every day of the year!

Your hound will be the toast of the town at Yappy Hour!

Tondee, our Busy Bee Rover Reporter, is always on the hunt for the best pet friendly things to do in Savannah!  He had such a howling good time at the The Grateful Hound on his last visit, he wants to make sure all of our pet guests and friends make it for the next Yappy Hour!

Please join us this Friday night, March 30th,  from 7-9 pm for complimentary adult beverages, snacks for both you and your pup, and specials on some of The Grateful Hound’s products. This week, all of their stylish human apparel will be 25% off.  Maggie & John, the owners, say “It’s the perfect opportunity to pick up that ‘Shed Happens’ Tee-shirt you’ve been thinking about or to grab that ‘Wag More Bark Less’ hat that caught your eye the last time you stopped by. We also have a new t-shirt that has been flying out of the store:’Dogs. Cheaper than Therapy’.  You’ll love it!”

Just like play dates in the park or neighborhood walk-a-longs, you’ll find that one of the best ways to help socialize your dog is to expose him to other dogs in a controlled setting.  What better way for you to enjoy time with your pet than with other pet lovers and a cool beer!

The Grateful Hound is located at 32 Barnard Street in Downtown Savannah, just steps from City Market and Ellis Square. For more information, visit them online at www.thegratefulhound.com or call (912) 236-PAWS (7297).

We’re proud to be your pet friendly vacation rental professionals and even your tail will be wagging when you see the newest historic cottages and townhouses we’ve added to our collection.  Busy Bee Vacations helps make Savannah a paw-tastic vacation destination!
