The Lucas kicks of the Westerns Weekend with this film adapted by Marguerite Roberts and directed by Henry Hathaway. It is the first adaptation of Charles Portis’ 1968 novel True Grit. John Wayne stars as U.S. Marshal Rooster Cogburn and won his only Academy Award for his performance in this film. Also starring Glen Campbell and Kim Darby.

I’ve got an exciting new townhouse that’s getting a ModCottage beauty makeover, but it doesn’t have a name…yet!  It’s over on Duffy Street in the Victorian District, it’s pet-friendly, it has three bedrooms and one and a half baths.  The ModCottage gals are whipping it into shape, so do be thinking about a name for this little doll house and share your suggestions.  I’ll make a list, pick my top favorite suggestions and then you can help me choose just the right name that will honor this great lady with lots of Savannah charm.

Paul, a recent guest, asked for my recommendations, so I gave him my list of “must-eats”.  Paul shared,  “Alligator Soul was fantastic. They treat you like friends and served us one of the best meals in Savannah. The waiter even gave us coffee beans for our breakfast.”

Fun things to do in SavannahWhere were you when you first got slimed?  Thanks to the Lucas Theater For The Arts, summer is a great time to get slimed!  Step back into 1984 with Ghostbusters on the big screen.

Saturday, June 16 at 7 p.m. Presented by the Lucas Theatre

Ghostbusters is an American supernatural comedy film directed by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. The film stars Bill Murray, Aykroyd, and Ramis as three eccentric parapsychologists in New York City, who start a ghost catching business. Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis co-star as a potential client and her neighbor, respectively.
